MLIS SUMMER 2018 BRIEF UPDATE
New Students: Welcome to our eight new MLIS Students, who started the program in June. We held an in-person orientation for them on the evening of Wednesday, May 30.
Fall Orientation: Orientation for new Fall 2018 students will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Graduate Admissions will hold their portion of the program starting at 9 a.m. in the Ballroom, 3rd floor, CdC. Our MLIS Program breakout orientation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 020, CdC.
Busy Faculty: Faculty members are engaged in a variety of activities this summer: teaching, service, attending/presenting at conferences, and engaged in research/scholarship. Two faculty members, Dr. Kohne Yoon and Dr. Sarah Park Dahlen, began their sabbaticals.
New Journal Article: Recent MLIS graduates Antonio Backman and Chayse Sundt, and MLIS faculty member Sarah Park Dahlen have a newly published article in The Journal of Research on Libraries and Young Adults entitled, “Asian American Teen Fiction: An Urban Public Library Analysis.” Their study was funded through the Program’s FLDS endowed fund that helps support student-faculty collaborative research.
