Salt Lake County Library is currently recruiting librarians. Our system is growing and we are planning on building four new libraries over the next five years. Salt Lake County Library has been listed in The Salt Lake Tribune’s Top Utah Workplaces for 2014, 2015, and 2016. Our vision is based on inspiring imagination, satisfying curiosity, and being a great place for everyone to visit.

The Kearns branch, one of 18 branches in the Salt Lake County Library system, currently seeking a 40-hour Children’s Librarian who speaks fluent Spanish and English.

Kearns is a culturally rich community, with a small town feel, centrally located in the Salt Lake Valley—only 20 minutes to downtown Salt Lake and approximately 30 minutes away from the Wasatch mountains—with plenty of hiking, skiing and sightseeing opportunities. Kearns is also site of the world famous Olympic Speed Skating Oval and it is home to 36,000 residents.

The successful librarian candidate for the Kearns branch will be able to present programs in Spanish and in English, including early literacy storytimes and family programs, with high energy and a love for children. Salt Lake County Library emphasizes engaging our community and supporting families in lifelong learning, and outreach to schools and community organizations is a priority.

Librarian positions start at $20.27 per hour, and Salt Lake County offers benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement.

The recruitment period lasts until August 13, 2017. The link to the job announcement can be found at Librarian Open Recruitment. This open recruitment will be used to fill both current and future librarian openings within Salt Lake County Library; not all of which will require bilingual candidates.

Please be sure to complete the online application in its entirety, including answering all of the assessment questions, to ensure consideration for the position.
