St. Olaf University in Northfield, MN is looking for a library intern.
In collaboration with research and instruction librarians, interns assist patrons — undergraduate
students, faculty, staff, and visitors — at a busy reference desk, fielding research questions in social sciences, humanities, and fine arts. Interns staff an online chat service mostly utilized by students and faculty. Interns assist with preparation and editing of teaching materials, such as online research guides, tutorials, and online modules. They coteach, with R&I librarians, selected information literacy sessions if applicable. This is an unpaid position.
Skills: Completion of minimum of 1/3 courses required to graduate. Completion of a course in reference services or information literacy preferred but not required. Excellent communication skills a must. Interest in research/reference/public services in an academic library a plus. Facility with technology desirable.
