The Life Sciences Librarian will serve as the subject liaison to the College of Pharmacy and the College of Arts and Sciences’ biological sciences programs, and will establish a programmatic approach to building partnerships with and delivering the Libraries’ resources and services to a wide variety of students, faculty, and staff in OSU’s academic community. The Librarian will build a wide-ranging support agenda for research, teaching and learning. Collaboration and engagement will extend beyond the pharmacy and biological sciences programs to include various life sciences, technology, and interdisciplinary communities and units, programs, and centers across the university. The Librarian will work with the Collections Strategist to monitor collections in their subject areas, and will work with
Biological Sciences/Pharmacy Library staff and the Circulation Coordinator to ensure that library space and collections are optimized for teaching and research. This position reports to the Head of the Sciences Cohort and, as part of the cohort, will work with colleagues to identify emerging constituent needs and develop and implement a contemporary approach to liaison librarianship. The Librarian will be committed to advancing efforts to foster diversity and inclusion in library, university, and professional contexts. - Promote the Libraries as an intellectual meeting place for programming, content, and inquiry.
- Actively engage and communicate effectively with faculty, students, and staff in the areas of biological sciences and pharmacy. This includes associated undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs and various education and research centers and strategic initiatives housed across the university.
- Communicate the value of scholarly communication, digital initiatives, the development of new online tools, copyright, data management, affordability, and the integration of information literacy skills into the curriculum and the impact to the scientific community.
- Anticipate and respond to users’ research and information needs throughout the research lifecycle
An ALA-accredited master’s degree or a comparable graduate degree from a non-U.S. university reviewed on a case-by case basis, or a terminal degree in biology, chemistry, pharmacy, or a relevant life sciences field.
Demonstrated ability to support research and information needs in the life sciences in collaboration with faculty, students, or staff.
Demonstrated ability to deliver instruction and support literacy within science courses and curricula. A bachelor’s degree, or higher, or equivalent in biology, chemistry, pharmacy, or a relevant life sciences field.
At least 3 years of experience in an academic or special library environment or comparable setting.
Experience providing research support services to scientific researchers, faculty, staff, professional, graduate, and undergraduate students.
Experience and expertise including but not limited to:
o Data management throughout the research lifecycle.
o Study design, statistical methods and/or data analytics in the sciences.
o Instructional design in the sciences.
o Systematic reviews.
o Scholarly communications in the sciences.
o Grant writing.
o Laboratory science work.

This is a full-time, permanent, 12-month appointment. For appointment as a tenure-track faculty member, the candidate will be required to meet university and Libraries requirements for promotion and tenure. Salary, position type, and faculty rank are dependent on qualifications and experience.
